Re: What is REALLY uncool about NZ

Re: The absolute disgrace of the BBC

How can you even begin to compare the NZ/UK relationship and the NZ/China one? Or UK/China come to think of it? Rightly or wrongly, it's worlds apart.

Good manners and being polite cost people...

Re: The absolute disgrace of the BBC

Erm there were 2 British/Scottish people killed in the mining accident. I think many people felt the pain. Also don't forget the tens of thousands of Kiwis who live in the UK and contribute on a...

Re: Is there a fear of a property-bubble in NZ?

Spot on Genesis and Jennifer. Me old mum (as she would refer to herself somewhat unfairly) cautioned us with the same thing when we bought our box in Streatham. Buy it because you need a home/want to...

Re: What is REALLY uncool about NZ

If that were the case then they would realise how much money they are losing out on by shutting down for such an extended period of time whilst the rest of the world is, erm, working  Also...

Re: What is REALLY uncool about NZ

I've driven round quite a few mountain roads both here and in North America in a whiteout. This isn't my first trip to NZ. Didn't phase us too much apart from getting a bit of a headache...

Re: Can someone sell Perth (and Oz) to me!

I would say that bandying the word Paki round is very racist and offensive on a forum that caters to UK expats, regardless of whether it's acceptable terminology in another country. Anyone who claims...

Re: Air Asia

There have been quite a few posts about the fact that you can't book flights from UK to NZ for example unless you are resident in that country. It is MUCH cheaper to book flights from the UK than...

Re: quarantine on dogs arrival or not?

No quarantine if coming from the UK - but that is only if the UK is the only country they have ever been in and they haven't gone abroad to France etc. Ours had no quarantine

Re: Reality on costs or not?

Money is not and should not be the main reason for anyone emigrating anywhere unless you of course are about to be destitute in a ditch. Somehow I doubt that is applicable to many people on this...

Re: Reality on costs or not?

Disagree. I find some things comparable to the UK and some things, such as my utility bill, even cheaper. The cost of gas, for example, is unbelievable now. Pescription charges are not expensive. My...
