Re: Back in the Day

Have been reading this excellent thread for a while but nervous of joining in.

Re: Back in the Day

Have been reading this thread with interest for some time, as it reminded me of the arduous, lengthy journeys taken decades ago through Europe and India by bus and train, with two, then three small...

Re: India Intermediary bank charges for money transfer

I only know regarding sending money in £s from a UK bank to Indian banks and there are charges by both banks, although the total can be paid at the UK bank.

Re: HELP - trying to sell in GOA, India

A poster on another part of the 'Forum' has directed me to your post. It was not necessary to surrender Portuguese nationality in 1961 and many still have both Indian and Portuguese nationality....

Re: Me and My Family

I very occasionally read this thread---it has been going on so long---out of curiosity---no idea why I did today!
But I must correct your view of "arranged marriages in India" . You are thinking...

Re: UK Travel- Operation- Family Support from India

The fact that you have a UK address and bank is important (you don't need to live there all the time)--but you will be responsible in the UK for any medical finances etc, for a tourist visa....

Re: UK Travel- Operation- Family Support from India

The easiest way for your FIL to apply for a visa is to go to a reputable travel agent, they will have experience, and will arrange application forms and sponsor forms etc.
The main difficulty is...

Re: Danish Colonies in India

The Danish were small coastal trade stations and taken over by the British. (It wasn't always 'exotic' for the people living under European 'Empire' rules)!

Re: Inglorious Empire

I am not sure about the "many"----even young people in India have little idea about British occupation! History has not been taught that much in ordinary schools, just as in UK.
(However many...

Perhaps putting a fixed...

Joint regular military exercises in both countries are not "procurement".

I will put...
