I see the concern, however I currently work part time in Canada and the US and my employer handles the various withholding / taxes with little difficulty so I am assuming that they will not have...

Status being finalized, I have both US and UK nationality so that is not a concern but I agree SS / NI / etc, still need to be sorted out.

Have not had good experiences with HSBC, used to bank...

I (and my son) have UK passports. My wife would be in the country for less than 6 months so she would enter as a visitor (I believe). It would be fixed...
