May I please ask, how long did it take, from initial application of UKM, to your DH receiving his letter of approval? And did he apply from the UK?

MDD, I was in the same situation as you, with a DH who would return home if I insisted. In the end, after almost 20 years of feeling homesick I insisted! Really insisted...and now we're going home...

If we have been working in the States for 20 years, is it still a good idea to "buy" some NI years too? Or are we set because of the treaty between UK and US? And does the treaty allow us to collect...

Yes, I believe you're correct :) However, when this new plan first hit the news there was a lot of talk about the possibility (likelihood even) that there might be no requirement for qualifying for...

Thank you all :) It really does seem that there are many advantages to getting my USC and really no disadvantages, given that we'll have a US tax obligation anyway.
