Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

Going back, ALL I actually ever said was that calling people ''arrogant'' or ''ignorant'' for having an opinion to which they are entitled was not really fair.

You created this argument for your...

Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

No you don't. You just want to feel superior to them. There's a difference.

Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

Good to know you take the view that people who dislike a country deserve the labels ''arrogant'' and ''ignorant''.

Good to know you agree that those who don't love Australia should just bugger...

Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

There you go again. You are clearly mature in age but sadly not so in attitude.

Deliberately goading people is not the act of someone with the intelligence and experience you try to impress...

Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

Interesting that I've had karma congratulating me on my post to you just now so not as daft as you are trying to say.

I made the reasonable point that calling people ''arrogant'' or ''ignorant''...

Re: Am I a Citizen of the UK?

Yeah - they changed the rules in the early 80's. After that being born in the UK wasn't sufficient on its own to make you a British citizen. You now have to have a British parent and your father...

Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

Only if they've never been there.

If you have seen a place with your own eyes - especially if you have lived there - I do not think there is anything arrogant or ignorant about liking or disliking...

Re: Growing financial crisis in Europe???

Hard to tell with you. I mean, seriously, you DO think it's a great nation - to put it mildly.

Re: Learning Australian Accent

I find the Australian accent mainly consists of sounding slightly nasal, ending sentences on an 'up' (as if it were a question rather than a statement) and talking with a slow drawl with elongated...

Re: Learning Australian Accent

What the???!!

Why would you actually want to speak with an Australian accent? I mean, it's okay I guess as far as accents go but why would you actively wish to speak that way? There's nothing...

Re: How much difference does sun REALLY make to you?

It is likely even more spectacular in parts of Australia cos you can obviously get further from urban areas more easily.

I was simply saying that in country areas of the UK, on a clear night, it...

Re: How much difference does sun REALLY make to you?

Only in the country - and the night sky is great in the country in the UK too. My parents live in a rural area of the UK and the night sky there is spectacular.

That's not really a feature of...

Re: How much difference does sun REALLY make to you?

I'm sorry but fairly recent news articles continue to refer to the existence of a drought in Australia. There certainly isn't much rain in Melbourne.

I think you have to be a real apologist to...

Re: How much difference does sun REALLY make to you?

Mmm, I already admitted that UK summers can be duds - so not sure what you've added there, really...and who was saying it wasn't documented?

The fact that a recent two have been duds doesn't make...

Re: How much difference does sun REALLY make to you?

I think you get quite a few nights like that between May and September, actually. Obviously the really long nights are only around July but it's still pretty good.

I admit that you can get a dud...

Merely making the point that, as Gary says in Men Behaving Badly, when there's always biscuits in the tin, where's the fun in biscuits?

Re: How much difference does sun REALLY make to you?

I personally vastly prefer the UK's climate - simply because the Summer's are pleasant rather than scorching and the colder winters, with Christmas and New Year, are actually quite a nice change that...

How much difference does sun REALLY make to you?

Lots of people come to Australia for the sunshine.

Re: Why are some areas so popular

Really? My experience is that everybody in the UK is convinced that it doesn't rain/get cold in Australia at all.

When you tell people in the UK that the weather is a bit chilly they don't...
