If you like nightlife then stay in Thailand. Beer is more expensive in Malaysia and it's for a slightly different sort of expat.

I don't live in either country but have been to both half a dozen...

Unfortunately most countries off the beaten track have dirt cheap labor for electricians. I would definitely go visit India before making the move... it's eiher a love it or hate it kind of country....

It's expensive and not that easy to find work from what I hear.

You might be better off looking into starting something up... there's lots of retirees looking for something to spend their money on.
