Re: Aberdeen to Houston 2014 (Sugar Land/Rosharon)

Quite a few children from Schlumberger families attended the Honor Roll School in Sugar Land when we arrived here some years ago now. It still has a good reputation I think. Other popular school...

Re: Salt Lake City schools

We spent a year in SLC our daughter went to Rowland Hall St Marks for her sophomore year. We found it a good school for the short time we were there, and she was able to do a couple of her APs during...

Re: Moving next week, any last minute advice?

Obviously you wear the tee underneath your shirt/sweater/abaya whatever you choose as your outerwear in November in Qatar, in place of the bra. No one else needs to see. I think you know that Alexa...

Re: Moving next week, any last minute advice?

In case no-one else has said, when you go for the X-ray, if you go already wearing a plain white tee and no bra under your top you won't have to change into one of the hospital gowns they give you. ...

Re: For everyone asking about cost of living in Doha

Couldn't stand all that stuff, I got my kicks frightening the locals with my dog and fighting for first off the mark at Decoration roundabout at rush hour. Driving was the best buzz...

Re: For everyone asking about cost of living in Doha

To be honest, if you manage to find somewhere to live away from a building site, it may not be as bad, but unless they've finished everything off in the last couple of years, which I doubt, then...

Re: For everyone asking about cost of living in Doha

Re: Moving to the mountains

Thought about Salt Lake City? Close to Park City. University town, surprisingly liberal, great scenery. We spent a happy year there living up on the Avenues - a gift after nearly three years in Doha!

Re: From Texas to Utah

We used to go to Sandy for the mall/shopping sometimes. Not sure about living there, a bit too far out of town, a bit bland, probably family friendly though I don't know how Mormon it is. I liked...

Re: From Texas to Utah

No so sure about beaches, the Salt Lake is a bit different, I don't think much lives in it, but it is an interesting area. At certain times the lake emits a smell like rotten eggs, something to do...

Re: From Texas to Utah

We moved from Texas to Qatar, then back to Texas via a year in Salt Lake City. Don't need to worry about the Mormons if you live close to the city itself, around the University - much more liberal...
