Aha! Can you book part of a container?!???!!!?? I'd love to get a quote for that from someone as we have some heavy-ish (but not large) items to ship from W Wales to Vancouver. Who did you get quotes...

Hi All,
We emigrated back in 2011 from London, UK to Vancouver but left a few heavy items with my parents in West Wales. What's the cheapest way to get them over to Vancouver?
We don't need them...

Just rang the post office & they are saying that 'registered' with Canada Post at $22 can take 6 weeks to arrive in UK - the next fastest was Express at $65 for approx 5 days!!!

Hi Novo & all,

Not sure if this info is useful but the house was not rented out at all (or with an agency) in 2013 or 2014 - it was just a seaside cottage for our use. As a rented holiday...

Yes I am but I don't meet with them til a week on Saturday (they're crazy busy) & I wondered what documents / receipts etc I needed to bring to the meeting.

Actually reading my response back (!) maybe, as we had the cottage already i.e. before we got a mortgage on it, we couldn't claim the rental loss back..?

Not quite. In the UK we had two properties. We lived in one which had a mortgage and the other a cottage that had no mortgage. We sold the main residence and paid off the mortgage and made a profit....

OK I've just had a horrific realisation (or maybe misunderstanding) - we sold our main UK residence just before we emigrated then transferred the mortgage to the cottage we now rent out as a UK...
