Some UK pensions fall under Australia's Foreign Investment Fund (FIF) tax rules though. These (nasty) rules tax the growth in the fund each year and you have to pay the tax from your own money each...

Gosh - that's a hard question to answer. Do you want to include alternative towns to Melbourne, or just suburbs of Melb?

With the pension, what type of fund is it? The issues on WHETHER to transfer are very different for different fund types. Eg. company run vs in your own name, final salary vs money purchase.
