Re: Missing PR Card!

Thanks guys, I think I'll do what you say, give it a week or two and then see what happens. The same thing happened with our driving licences. My husbands arrived 2 weeks before mine and we applied...

Missing PR Card!

Hi All,

Well we landed and are finally permanent residents in Canada! I will find some time to hopefully share our landing experiences (which were all very straightforward) soon but everything is...

Re: Declaring Proof of Funds

Thanks what I figured thanks! Assumably when we transfer the bulk of our funds (over $10,000) it will be flagged by the bank anyway to prevent any kind of laundering etc

Declaring Proof of Funds

Hi all,

2 weeks to go yikes! I am just a little confused about POF. Our funds are currently in our UK ISA. Totally transferable, unencumbered etc etc so we are planning on bringing an up to date...

Re: Shipping lists - my packing inventory is super vague

thanks! I think I once read somewhere that there can be a delay in being allowed to go collect it all which is why I was a bit concerned!

Re: Shipping lists - my packing inventory is super vague

Thanks for the heads up! Maybe I'll leave it after all. Hopefully it will be pretty quick or they will take pity on us. Just out of interest, do you know if they let you pick up your luggage before...

Re: Shipping lists - my packing inventory is super vague

Landing in Toronto late in the eve and I figured anything to speed up the process and get my toddler into a bed quickly is worth it! Good point on mistake checking though. Our list is really quite...

Re: Shipping lists - my packing inventory is super vague

Thanks for that. I think I will do something similar as there a few electronic items in those boxes which have not been list. Taking both lists is a good idea. I am planning on filling out the B4...

Shipping lists - my packing inventory is super vague

Hi all,

I know the Goods to Follow/Accompanying lists can be brief and vague but I am still having a bit of trouble. The packing inventory I got from Anglo Pacific is incredibly vague. For...

Re: Shipping a tent

Good to know! I would really hate to give it up. It's tiny and not great for family camping but I figured my son would love it when he is older. Vintage tents are pretty hard to come by I imagine....

Shipping a tent

Hi all,

Our shipment gets picked up in a couple of weeks and we are having a tent dilemma. I own my Dad's old camping tent from the 50's. It is an awesome thing and still in good condition and...

Re: Self-employed Route: 5 years from original application

Exactly what Aviator says. You can't lie. As long as you have sustained your life as a freelancer and have the relevant proof of funds you should be fine. There is no minimum earning threshold...

Re: Self-employed Route: request for remaining supporting documents

Not sure about that because presumably your recent onces have not expired? If in doubt I would always do what they ask.

Re: Self-employed Route: request for remaining supporting documents

We submitted our partical app in 2009, full application with certain forms repeats in 2010 but they requested everything again (minus birth certificates) in 2012 and then quite a lot of repeat stuff...

Re: Self-employed Route: request for remaining supporting documents

I think repeat copies of formal documents- birth certificates, marriage etc etc is a bit odd and unfair but in our application we sent them numerous repeats of passport copies and forms. I think we...

Re: Self-employed Route: request for remaining supporting documents

Yeah, I would mentioned that in a cover letter. Maybe send them a case specific to confirm that your police check will be late- probably wouldn't hurt either. We thought at one stage we needed a...

Re: Self-employed Route: request for remaining supporting documents

Hi and congrats- looks likes things are moving!

We had to resubmit quite a few things. Off the top of my head, we did all the major forms again and police checks. They also requested a business...

Re: AOR from London August/September 2010 - Progress updates

Fabulous news! Congratulations!!! It took us just over a week to get ours, after handing in the passports in person. We land in about 2.5 months and could not be more excited!

Re: ISAs, baby savings and proof of funds

Thanks for getting back to me both. I hadn't realised the threshold had change so thats useful to know. The funds in our ISA are fully transferrable and accessible and we used statements as proof of...

Hi there,

I apologise if these seem quite basic questions- I am not very experienced in these things!

Firstly I have done some thread searching and now understand that we will taxed on the...

Hi there,

Hopefully I can be some use but I agree with most of what has been said above. Just to give you our background, we both work in theatre and live in London. We were finally awarded PR...
