I`ve been offered a job there and a good job at that but everybody thinks I should avoid Leicester like the plague. Can it all be that bad? I`ll look at the towns that you have mentioned.

Its info like this that makes Canada seem like a good alternative to the USA and given their more relaxed attitude to letting people in, its something that attracts me.

Will certainly do a lot of research and look at different areas of the Nova Scotia peninsuala. One of the things that I like about NS is that nothing seems too far but will probably focus initially...

I most definately have a preference for north California and around SF but I do like the sound of San Diego as well so a trip to California would most likely include both north and south.

Went to Toronto for 5 days several years ago and that is about it for Canada. Idea is to narrow down the locations that I like in North America to just a 2 or 3 and then go and visit each location...

Ok thanks for the tips and have made a note of them, like the idea of coastal breezes as well. Lived in Spain once and know the importnace of coastal breezes in the summer months.

Would you say southern california is more expensive than northern? When you say older towns which do you have in mind? Also what are the climate differences between LA and San Diego?
