I'm not looking for anything particularly deep and meaningful. I have youtube documentaries and wikipedia for that. Looking for the average man social prejudices that you get in every country. But...

Re: What are the social and psychological nuances within Australia

Cool, keep it coming. I can vouch for "NSW and Victoria think Queensland is full of nutters". I was chased out of a small country town once by an angry drunk native, I think it was Cooktown?. ...

Re: What are the social and psychological nuances within Australia

No never seen it, would the four effeminate Sydney Siders get eaten alive? Thought it had to do with weather?

Re: What are the social and psychological nuances within Australia

OK got it, so anyone who says "Never confuse Queensland with Australia" is likely to be jealous of the good weather in other states and/or from Melbourne.

What are the social and psychological nuances within Australia

Can't really explain what I'm asking in one word but have always been fascinated by the psyche and social nuances within countries and I'm aware of my own having grown up in the UK e.g.. North/South...

Re: Would you go, or stay? Australia v. UK in a circumstance

Have been reading with interest. It's a difficult situation and there will be hurt and disappointment with whatever decision you make. I'm not in exactly the same situation but I also have a very...

Re: 10 Years on - Reflections on a First Return Visit to the UK

These are the last few pubs I went to including my local. If you are on top of your game and move with the times, which most publicans are wise to nowadays, the below are setting the standard for...

Re: 10 Years on - Reflections on a First Return Visit to the UK

Things to do aren't too shabby either. A week ago I was at a public military air display watching the red arrows and talking to an A10 fighter pilot and the week before I was at a Falconry in the...

Re: 10 Years on - Reflections on a First Return Visit to the UK

In my opinion comparing Australia to the UK will always be difficult. A lot of what is good about the UK is unseen to most e.g. good schools/universities, respect for rule of law, good job...

Re: Newbie after a little bit of advice on timelines of visas

My skilled 189 took 4 weeks for EOI to be accepted then 5 weeks from submission to grant, so 9 weeks in total. Very quick. I frontloaded PCC/Meds.

Re: Need some advice about possibly ping ponging back to Oz!

I think you are confusing yourself. There are bankrupt people in every city in the world that live, work, rebuild and get by without credit. If you wanted to start again in another country with no...

Re: Need some advice about possibly ping ponging back to Oz!

You've lost me. Maybe this will help:

1. The OP suggested she moved back to the UK for one reason only, economics. And now her other half is unhappy.

2. I commented with respect that I don't...

Re: Need some advice about possibly ping ponging back to Oz!

???

Because, for many reasons, I want to live in Sydney. For one, I don't speak Spanish or Greek. For two, I don't want to live in Spain or Greece. :goodpost:

Re: De Facto Partner

I'm sure you could manage picking some fruit or working on a farm for a few months if it meant you get to stay with your defacto partner and get a permanent visa at the end of it. You never know you...

Re: De Facto Partner

I don't know for sure but you don't sound like a defacto partner in the true sense (no reason why you can't be one in the future).

Together for only 15 months, no shared bills, you live with him...

I too obtained superior English for extra points (I'm British born) and successfully...
