Re: Anyone returned to UK?

Just a quick update. Have sent back all vetting forms a few weeks ago and now waiting for an update.

I have read some of your older posts and like us, you seem to have been in a state of indecision since 09. :D

Well done for making a decision, best wishes for the future, and if you don't mind me...

Anyone returned to UK?

Anyone returned to their (or another) UK police service after emigrating?

Was wondering about the vetting process (MetPol) after being away 4 years? What does it involve?

HR indicating it...

Re: Hope to give hope - House sold in 1 day

Wow ! that was good. Congratulations. What province are you in? I'm finding it hard to judge our market at the moment. Have two friends here that sold very quickly, both moving overseas with...

Re: So a return to the UK looks pretty likely

I don't doubt you Lothianlad - it was definitely pouring when we spoke to the in-laws that day - but they did confirm they'd had about three weeks of gorgeous weather too.

Thanks brits1 - I...

Re: What will you miss and not when you get back to the UK.

I won't miss a frozen garden from November to April! You could break a shovel here (if you weren't using it to clear the snow)

I will miss the big bright skies.

I won't miss rubber...

Thanks for all your comments and supports guys :)

It will all be fine, I am sure. It might take a bit of juggling and a whole pile of stress but we will be returning roughly to the same area...

Unhappy So a return to the UK looks pretty likely

Haven't been on for a few weeks as lots of stuff going on at home. I think we're almost at that final decision stage and will most likely look to move back to the UK in the late summer.

Banks and guarantees on your savings

Can anyone confirm what the current situation is with UK banks and any guarantees it gives on the safety of your savings?

The most recent article I could find was from July 2008 which said that...

Re: Smacked with a Tax if Canadian house sells but we're not here - HELP!!

OK - so I'm still confused - my brain hurts too

I understood this withheld tax related to capital gains. If one loses value on their home, where are the gains?

Re: Give and Take

That's probably the important bit really; when it all boils down to the important things, you are entitled to be looked after, if being looked after is available.

Re: Transfering your money to the uk

The rate is really good at the moment, ie, bad. It hasn't been this low for years.
