Default Sony HD Television

Does anyone know how I can check to see if my TV can be converted for the UK, I read a post on here saying that some had converted theirs and just wondered what the procedure was. Also I noted there was not a Sony !

I'd be interesting in this as well. Our Bravia is 240V compatible but only supports NTSC. For us I suppose they key issue is whether or not the PAL/NTSC issue applies if we only use it with a satelite or cable box which I can't quite get my head around.

If you have Sky or a digital box for free view. Then you watch your tv through those....same as how you could watch your tv through your video recorder.

use HDMI or component leads through a freeview/sky etc box and NTSC/PAL is not an issue. My Sony is dual voltage so that wasnt an issue either

You can buy a free view box for around £20, if your not interested in having sky tv.......And if your tv hasn't got a built in power converter then you can buy one of those to, to plug into.....

We have HDMI leads on our Canadian tv. Doesn't everything use scart leads in the UK? - is that an issue or am I being particularly dense ?

The US expats in the UK site has a sticky about North American appliances working in the UK. Might be helpful (tad technical at times though)

We had a Sony Brava and was going to bring it back, but managed to sell it before we left....

We was told that their should be know problem bringing it back....because it was a LCD Flat Screen.

We took our English portable LCD Flat screen to Canada with us and it worked fine, so i assume it would work ok the other way.

Its funny because we took our cheap LCD to canada and it didn't work, its strange how some do and some don't work.
