Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

What a shame you have to resort to be threatening and insulting. Yet you still think you're better. And I'm the one with the problem? Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself exactly which moral...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

The first 3 are you just trying to be smart (again), and the fourth is you trying to be patronising, condescending, over-familiar and borderline inappropriate. You've moved up a gear.

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

As someone cleverly said on another thread, it's amazing that people who claim to be so overwhelmingly happy here want to waste to much time being smart with people who aren't so happy. Haven't you...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

Wow, you're so funny, Hutch. Really. Just not quite as funny as you obviously think you are.

Sydney? Melbourne, mate. That ticket's no good to me.

Now go and fiddle around in Photoshop or...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

Perhaps if you completely become an Aussie in all but birth they will accept you as one of theirs and therefore not use the ''pom'' term. Perhaps if you show signs of Englishness (accent,...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

Oh my word, they can do no wrong for you, can they?

I've been called a pom dozens of times and heard the term used on radio/tv on a number of occasions too.

Do you have a filter built in that...

Re: If you'd had a crystal ball.....

And if you DO try and it doesn't work you'll equally spend the rest of your life wondering ''what if?''

So it works both ways!

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

It's a real shame that you can't state a reasonable, considered opinion on this website without being closed down and belittled by all the apologists on here who think you're an idiot if you've got...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

At least in the UK you can ''single out'' some people. I'm not sure I would be able to ''single out'' any Australians.

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

Don't be daft.

I know full well that Brits (some of them) are guilty of this. You seriously think I was suggesting that Brits don't do this?! Have a word with yourself!

The very fact that...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

Hello. Was wondering how long it would be before someone such as your good self stepped in to begin the predictable defense of the Aussies.

This thread, as you well know, is essentially about the...

Re: If you'd had a crystal ball.....

Sometimes I wonder if there is an agenda to ''empty out'' the UK by getting loads of people to leave under the belief that life in the UK is awful and they'd be better off overseas.

Just a thought.

Re: If you'd had a crystal ball.....

What a shame that so so many of us Brits are tricked into thinking (by the propaganda of our media at home and the propaganda of the media overseas) that their kids will be vastly better off growing...

Re: If only you'd known. What's the one thing would've kept you in UK?

One of NEXT's chief aims is to sell clothing that will still look good in a few years time. It does not date desperately (if at all) and the quality is such that it does not wear out easily. My...

Re: If only you'd known. What's the one thing would've kept you in UK?

Well, my version of this would be that life here is NO EASIER OR BETTER than in the UK, though I believe it is frequently (always?) advertised as being vastly better from all possible points of view....

Re: If you'd had a crystal ball.....

She says she would, and I think she means it, but I think circumstances will make it difficult. Two young kids, her family nearby here, small business here that's been an effort to get going. ...

Re: If you'd had a crystal ball.....

I've been here 3 and a half years now. I ''knew'' that it wasn't 100% right for me when I got here but it wasn't until I went back for a visit to the UK December-January 07/08 that I realised how...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

I remember a news item here a couple of years ago that Australian sports broadcasters were not supposed to be using any ''rascist'' terms any longer to describe other nations. I distinctly recall...

Re: Whinging Poms? You decide...

Well, I've always wondered why this word was exempt from all the normal rules of politeness (the few that there are here). Why is it that the only nation it is totally acceptable to slag-off and use...

Re: If you'd had a crystal ball.....

Sorry to hear that you've had a bad time of it.

Thanks for the compliment on the topic. According to the Aussie Apologists on this site (huge numbers of them) everything I say is total bull crap.

Re: If you'd had a crystal ball.....

This makes it a lot easier; I have the problem that my wife is Aussie. If we were both Brits I think a mutual decision would be a lot more straightforward.
