It also had alternator issues and was automatic so when in traffic I had to do a lot of left foot braking while keeping the revs up to stop it stalling.
friend of mine ran a fiat panda sans starter motor for months. had to make sure he parked facing down hill for the jump start

Seat Arosa 1.7 SDI. Bloody good on the fuel and handled brilliantly. Took a while to get to 60mph mind.

My truck couldn't hit 60 going downhill Really, first gear was worthless, second topped out at 12 MPH, third topped at 25 MPH, fourth could barely maintain 55 MPH. However it could climb a wall. Needless to say no power brakes, no power steering, no A/C and if you ran over a coin you would feel it.

The first car i owned was one of these, known as "The German Capri" by my mates:

Insurance cost as much as the car.

So then i went a bit silly and bought...

Loved my Dolomite Sprint, I got very adept at removing it's cylinder head!

Something like this, but with a 1300 engine, lots of rust and a strange flaky metallic piss green paint job. It lasted 8 weeks and was replaced by a diesel Peugeot 309.

My b/f had one of those in the same sh!t colour. It was automatic and he let me drive it but I learned on a manual (Fiesta) so thought it was a trick - surely driving couldn't be that easy? I persuaded him to change it in for a shiny new Fiesta with a go faster red stripe down the side.

What's your favourite?

In my minimal list I think my A3 takes it. Even though it was the 1.8 not the 2.0 diesel, it was a 'sport version' and was ****ing rapid. I loved that thing.

Two, in that case, although I disagree. Great cars--3 rows of seats which is great with 3 kids, luggage space even with 7/8 occupants, comfy, big but drives like a saloon, reliable, I like the looks (especially the later one). The last one was top spec with a flip-down tv airline-style, 2 sunroofs, multiple a/cs--really sad to part with both of them.
