I didn't bother checking as it looked like the typical reaction post of a Saudi, shocking and indeed shameful if he's a Canadian... I always had canadians pegged as pretty sensible, enlightened types, maybe I need to reconsider?

Edit: Just had a look at the introduce yourself posting, and I'd put a healthy wager on him not being ethnically canadian, more likely a naturalised saudi. Can't be many canadians that would introduce themselves with the word "salam"...

In Canada we would never dare try to force our beliefs, ideologies etc. on others so where is the fairness in doing so in the Middle East.

Where did I say I believed in hell? I'm an atheist and don't believe in fairy tales or father christmas or any of the other made up nonsense which weak willed people seem to rely on for guidance.

Anyone who is insulted by criticism of their intolerable, inhuman and degrading actions deserves no sympathy, only contempt. The thing is, and I had to come here to really understand why anyone could accept such injustice and inhumanity; It is that people who are raised to not think for themselves, or ask the question "why do we do this", or to listen to their inner voice (the rules of life which govern all free thinking people), are just incapable of understanding why anyone would consider what they do is morally wrong. They are told from an early age that this is the way things are done, and they will be punished if they question it, so it is hardly surprising that someone brought up like that is blind to the inhumanity of life here.

Consequently, you can argue until you are blue in the face but it will make no difference to people with closed, paralysed minds.

BTW: I'm not staying in this country for much longer, I have had my fill of it, and will be returning to civilisation at the end of February.

If a woman got raped in Saudi (God forbid), her whole tribe would be on her side to deal with the situation with rifles before it even got a chance to reach the police because of how serious rape is taken here and how important any girl would be to her family. Not that I am for taking law into one's hands but that's a different story.
