Don't you mean St Reatham! Brighton is a good shout, commutable, good fun place although starting to get pricey now.

If we were to move back I'd go for Northcote Road/Battersea Rise in Clapham. Plenty of good bars/restaurants (at least there were last we went back in 2009) and easy to get around from Clapham Junction.
