MataHari Do you heat the bacon, mushrooms, onion, garlic, Boursin, grated cheese to make a sauce, then add to the pasta?

I first fry the bacon and put it on kitchenroll to get rid of the excess fat, and then I use a little bit of the greasy to fry the onions, garlic and then add the mushrooms...after a little while I add the Boursin and the cheese. In the meantime, the pasta has cooked, I add that and at the last moment I add the crumbled bacon over it...if you do that earlier it gets soggy and I like it to be crispy...

Sounds excellent. Think I will give it a try.

Cheers.

This is what we're having - the cook's day off today, so:

Husband: Made Pasta (for the youngest); Green Lentils; Pulao

Daughter 1: Made some yummy potato curry (self taught!)

Me: Just had dinner! Now feeding the younger one.

Me in the afternoon: Made lunch (actually warmed up what my cook made yesterday, but made fresh rotis and naans)

:)

Is it common for expats to have cooks and maids in Dubai?

Depends, in my case since I am in office from 8-5, I prefer to have a maid and a cook. When I return home, I like to spend time with the kids and relax, not cook and clean.

Re: What's for dinner...

I do it all myself...which will come as no surprise...
(well, I do have a cleaner type person that does things with buckets of water 3 times a week...)

Frankly, if I had a choice I'd prefer to do the cleaning myself (think I'd do a much better job than the maids I've had so far!!). The main reason for having them is to babysit my kids for a couple of hours until I return from work....

:) No not cooks anyway. Some people have maids and some like MH and myself have helpers who come 2/3 times a week

Dont you have a maid in UK:)

It depends if both parents are working and how many kids and how young the kids are

No, no maid in the UK!!!!

I wear shirts every day to work, other than a Friday as we have a Dress-down Friday policy. Sometimes I wear a casual shirt on a Friday rather than a t-shirt and my wife hates me for it.

she keep threatening to make me iron my own shirts. It is amazing how many ironed shirts a bottle of good plonk and a bunch of flowers can buy you!!!!

Bit slow - that's quite funny - bit of a turn up for the books really. Just make sure you don't get cuffed or collared though, Time to button up I think.
