i got a goretex jacket, a pair of boots and a new rucksack

the rucksack died a few years back but i still have the boots and jacket, both look like shit now but still perform their function admirably

Not so much the 18th but 17th birthday in Scotland (when you can get your driving licence)...I got a red Ford Anglia car hand-me-down from my dad for travel to university. My dad got it new at 20% off because of the she-devil registration PMS666

I can't actually remember the present I got, but I do remember getting a birthday cake in the shape of Garfield. I was into cartoon pussies those days.
