What? Another car thread?

Re: What? Another car thread?
best I saw was the first time I visited the wife's home town in the North of Kazakhstan. The terminal was a ramshackle wooden building. you collected your bags when they unlocked the door to a room where they had been dumped.
2 weeks later when we returned it had been replaced by a new shiny modern building built from marble and steel. Well at least thats what it looked like. Once you entered through the new automatic doors you found that it was still the same old building inside. They had just put a modern facade around it because the President was due for a visit

I was recently in Chandigarh airport (state neighbouring Kashmir), and from walking down the steps from the airplane and passing through the baggage hall, it took approximately 5 minutes to be out on the street hailing a cab. Nice shiny new airport terminal building also.
I don't want to walk miles or look at things - I want to land and get in a taxi.

I want to say the second tier airports can be best for this, but realised they can also be very inefficient with baggage if you have anything checked in. Edinburgh took a full hour to get the bags out when I was there in August!

A380 into B'ham... total disaster. The A380 is an awful plane for the pressure it puts on the airport.

Window.
The offset is the plane narrowing, so your row is straight, the row in front is turned in slightly..... so the window seat has boat loads of leg room.

58A and K on the lower deck of the EK 380 are window seats behind the exit row, which has only two seats, so you have unrestricted legroom while not being in a bulkhead. (I think there may be another pair similar in the next cabin behind). You have to pay quite a bit extra to secure them but you can get lucky if you leave check in to the airport on the day...

My favourite seat is Business. Any will do. Especially if it's a free upgrade. Of which I've had four so far this year.
Qatar is popping out free upgrades to business as if it was candy

Emirates are definitely not doing that, bast@rds. I'm a Platinum EK member and have had only one Y to J op-up this year and no J to F whereas last year I was getting J to F and Y to J pretty regularly. I've been flying a lot less for work this year and taking a lot more flights I've had to pay for myself (hence the Y tickets and increasing familiarity with downstairs on the 380 which I had been in only once prior to 2017).
