Hi All,

I recently moved to Riyadh and love my work and as strange as it sounds, I actually like being here, but I’d like to avoid another weekend sat around a compound. I'd like to get out and mix with a few other human being. I’m somewhat limited as far as transport and could likey get to any location but particularly enjoy being in the back of a taxi with a driver who has no comprehension of speed-distance-time.


So in the interests of maintaining my sanity, I’d like to ask if there any social events taking place this weekend that would be able to accommodate a 44 year old guy. For info I’m, divorced with two great kids back home and ex with who I’m great friends. If it helps, I’m fully house trained, don’t spit at you when I talk and can even maintain a semi-grown up conversation.


As a single guy it would be nice if there are a few other singles around too, simply so I can be around others like myself, nothing more sinister than that. It could be anything from an Embassy bash to getting out to the desert, basically something that is social and provides the opportunity to get to know others here. I like to think I'm socially adaptable and well behaved, so no worries about inviting a social hand grenade.


I do know there are lots of forums, some of which I’ve now joined along with some of the social organisation sites (meetup.com), but its going to take a bit of time to get an event organized and I simply want to find something to do this weekend.

If it helps, I’m more that happy to contribute to any costs, preparation, helping with the organization or clearing up, so not just looking for a free ride.
