Of course - but nor will it actually be 5%. It will be applied as 10%, 5% for the government, and 5% for me for collecting it for them. Then round it up to the nearest dirham/ten

5% VAT is not the end of the world.

It's not a big issue I am already known all information about the VAT in UAE. The government of UAE all these of us. I know we are facing some problem but after we can enjoy it.

Ive visited the uae every few years for about the last 25. I stopped about 7 years ago as prices rose to make it plain expensive, the place lost a lot of its charm, and i think people got less courteous too. I cant help thinking that the generic slide towards more money grabbing is part of the decline. How dependant on visitors is the uae though? Not very i suspect?
Anyway i now prefer oman.
