Speaking of which, I really enjoyed The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (at least the 1/2 I managed to catch) on Etihad recently: definitely worth watching. Basically a UK remake of California Suite, and absolutely excellent. Judie Dench, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson (you'll know his face), Maggie Smith, Ronald Pickup, Celia Imrie et al. Classic.

That's a lovely film. Quality cast and highly recommended. I loved it.
Britexpat76 - how can you not know who Dame Maggie Smith is?
She's one of our finest actresses. Latterly in Downton Abbey and the Harry Potter films and in such great films as My House in Umbria, California Suite, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and Gosford Park. Plus loads of acclaimed stage performances.

I fancy a complete Sopranos-fest: all 6 series back-to-back.
Jeez: just IMDB'd it: that's 86 episodes, at an hour a go:
Non-stop: 3 1/2 days
Non-stop with 15 mins break between episodes (bio breaks and answering the door when the NKD Pizza guy arrives): 4 1/2 days
Non-stop during the day with 15 mins break between episodes and 8 hours sleep each night: 6 1/2 days
Perhaps not, then.

If anyone hasn't watched Homeland then I recommend that.
In previous summers we have watched every episode of Frasier and The West Wing. Will start on Newsroom soon. Watched one episode of Veep and just found it annoying.

I have The Wire box sets but never get around to watching them though I loved the 30% of it that I managed to catch when broadcast.

Most of them are DL's.
I can suggest the US drama OZ, dated back to 1997 I think, and then chuck in most of the ones mentioned. For comedy, 2 Broke Girls, New Girl, Bent, and Men at Work. Not in the same class as your Seinfelds, Frasiers or Cheers, but amusing. For a slightly differnt comedy vibe have a look at How I Met Your Mother (7 seasons) and The Big Bang Theory (5 seasons I think).
Luther is a must watch, as is Game of Thrones.
If you have not seen it, Breaking Bad is worth it too, they have just started season 5. Bryan Cranston did not win numerous Emmys in a row for nothing!
Suits has just started season 2 and is also very enjoyable. Naturally season 2 is better than the first so far.
