Commander - I'm after some free advice please, not triathlon but marathon related - would you recommend training in the week leading up to the race? I'm following a plan which winds down in the last week, but a few people have said to me I shouldn't do anything in this last week, but I would have thought a few short runs would keep me limbered up?

Definitely do not lay idle in the last week. Do some fast/short sessions. Get a massage, hydrate lots.

Doing nothing is counter productive. You will eat (and think you are over eating) and you will feel sluggish.

Go to the gym or for a relaxing swim.

Whatever, don't just rest for a week. Personally, I'll be training the day before my Ironman.

Thanks Commander, that was my original plan, I just had some doubts after one or two people had suggested otherwise.

I'll rest afterwards in a pub.
