By the way TGFKASE, your old stamping ground the Jebel Ali Club is still there, although not sure for how much longer. I am sure your wife would just love their deep-fried port knuckle. (Not an euphemism.)

Zuma and Hakkersan are great. Ask for a terrace table at Hakkersan. Brasserie Angelique will be dead on a Saturday, but is very pretty with very good food.
I am also hearing nice things about Brasserie Flo at the Venetian Village, at the Ritz Charlton.
Asia de Cuba is the restaurant on the beach side of St Regis, Corniche. Food is OK and the outside bar has an excellent vibe. Hiltonia, with Abu Dhabi's most shite restaurant, Vasco's, is further up the beach.

Thanks all...
After looking up the options, I have decided on a Terrace table at Hakkasan...
PS Meow.. Email answered and, although I have visited JARC since my return, I have not had the opportunity to sample the JARC Knuckle....

God, there are times I miss Thailand , hell even Vietnam... In fact, customer service at Whataburger in TX is better than this..!! PS.. Whataburger ARE the best burgers in Texas.. !!
I just called Emirates Palace hotel.. You would have thought I would get better then the barely-comprehensible Ma'am/Sir line from this call, but, shit on a stick, it was worse!! I had to ask her to confirm it was Emirates Palace, coz what she said when she answered the call was gibberish.. I still wasnt sure, so I asked for the restaurant I was looking for.. I am still unsure that she knew WTF she was doing, coz I got routed thru 4 more people before arriving at the restaurant..
So, I then , after 4 misdirected calls get thru to restaurant, just for the lass to say " YouWait..."...
After a few minutes a Lebo rest mgr picks up and, when I advise him that I am less than impressed with service so far, kicks off at me...
So, reservation cancelled at EP....

I has a passable osso buco but with tasteless spag and an awful attempt at veg washed down with very decent plonk in piss-poor surroundings but with friendly but only half-professional staff overlooking the port but with metal-spiked grills on the windows in the only Italian restaurant in town which doesn't really serve Italian food (ossu buco aside -- pizza doesn't count and anyway there's a semi-rancid bar up on the cliffs which does far better pizza) ... gasp ... sometimes, just sometimes, I miss AD and Dubai.
