Re: Too hot to work
We were in London in the summer of 2003 and it was in mid/high 30's...yes it was hot but everyone took advantage, parks and beer gardens were full - the atmosphere was fantastic.
If I were back now I'd take holiday and make the most of it, not have a big ****ing whinge.

Re: Too hot to work
The minimum white collar office temperature was always the one that got me. You'd be out in the yard, or having cycled in and the instant you walked in the place you'd have to strip off your 'unnecessary' clothes in the entrance before you fainted. 14c is shorts and t-shirt weather for me back home.

Re: Too hot to work
I guess the problem is the windows heat the place then it doesn't cool. That said, I do question how much cooling is actually occurring in an uninsulated flat when the inside temperate is (say) 25oC and the outside temperate is (most likely) 25oC. Or most likely it's 20oC inside and 25oC outside.

As someone with a bluffers understanding of thermodynamics from my degree, I thought the same.

Re: Too hot to work
Why are people in the UK surprised when it snows in winter and is warm and sunny in the summer? Isn't that supposed to be how it works?

Re: Too hot to work
and of course, a fan (which is common in Britannia, not air-con) needs to be in the window to suck the cold air in
