Re: Superstition
So what and where is "white city"? That yarn about the Egyptian mummy's curse often makes me think. All those people connected with the dig evidently died horribly...

Re: Superstition
I just had an epiphany.
Whilst i am in no way religious i do adhere to pagan religious practises.
ie when i say touch wood i invariably actually touch wood.
WTF is all that about, I hate religion.....sneaky bstrds have lured me in without my knowing.
anyone else non religious/non believer etc who believes or partakes in superstitious acts, ie touching wood, ladders, umbrellas indoors and all that cack?

Re: Superstition
Hmm. Well I like to think that I'm a pretty rational kinda guy, but I do have an attachment to this bracelet that a client gave me, and had blessed by a monk, when I was working in Singapore and he toured me around the monastaries- it's supposed to bring me luck....
It has three large beads, representing the 3 jewels; four smaller beads representing the 4 noble truths and eight lobes of string representing the eight-fold path.
Interestingly, if you take the 3 major beads, and the 4 minor beads, it forms the Fibonnacci sequence and gives a subsequent term of 7 - the number of Heavenly Virtues (which as Inse, Mrs Inse and myself lately discovered in the Chapel at New College, are also sub-divided as 4,3 being the three theological virtues and four cardinal virtues).....
Coincidence???? I don't think so.......
Gotta run - I got some black cats crossing my path that might mess up my mojo...

Course its not coincidence, it was specifically designed as a Buddhist bracelet so one might expect the symbolism of the Three Jewels (or Three Treasures), the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path (or Middle Path). Also, the fibonacci sequence has been tied occassionally to buddhism and spirituality, being used to make such symbols as the Heart of Buddha (the golden heart).
Above assumes 'coincidence' means a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection and not the other meaning of correspondence in nature or in time of occurrence.
