I'm not biting...
I've always wondered why it was called "Personality" not Achievement or Sportsperson or something else? It makes voters think if they are decent chaps with a good anecdote....
If it were on purely 2012 results in their sport it could be:-
1 - McIlroy (World #1)
2 - Murray (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 major, wimbledon final)
3 - Farrah (2 golds)
4 - Wiggins (TDF Win (team sport), 1 Gold)
etc - I've not thought this all through (did Wiggo get more than 1 gold?) - hopefully you get the point - but the achievement results will certainly differ from the public votes.
Anyway - it's all entertainment

Anyway...
Good ranking there (taking it as just the first few that you considered). Comparing medals is so tough though isn't it? Wiggins winning TdF is a massive moment for that sport in Britain etc etc... Can you compare that to McIlroy winning a major or Murray winning a grand slam tourno?
Tough to compare...maybe that's where the personality element comes in? Or maybe that it just comes down to who people like the most based on the sport they play or how much they know about them or whatever...

Re: SPOTY
AM will not be at the awards ceremony, he has already stated that he will be away at training camp, unless others have persuaded him otherwise. Difficult to see any other than Team GB winning team of the year, and I would hazard a guess at Clare Lomas for the Helen Rollason award.

Re: SPOTY
This I don't understand, sure its a team event as several riders ride for the same team etc etc. What do the other riders actually do to help Wiggins win? Push people off their bikes, let the rivals tyres down, Brake infront of them, Push Wiggins along? Surely he has to pedal faster than anyone else to win?

Re: SPOTY
Cannot agree with 'Team GB' winning Team of the Year..... plenty of failures there among the Ennises and the Farahs............ and is the guy who, for example, finishes 9th in the pistol shooting really in the same 'team' as, say, Ben Ainslie?? Ryder Cup team for me - no failures or weak links in the whole team.

McIlroy and Ainslie both finished well down the pecking order which surprised me.

Why not just go for gold and stitch him up?
Or by running with MF, is the Yank guaranteeing himself a chance for silver instead of a long-shot at any medal?
