In 1972, when the superb 'Honky Chateau' album came out, my friend Graham Williamson heard the track 'Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters', played it a few times, then declared: "That's beautiful. That's the song I want played at my funeral."

He was 15 at the time.

Six years ago, he died from anaphylactic shock following a bee sting. He was 47:

At his funeral, attended by what seemed like most of our old school mates and many teachers, we honoured his wish.........

Guilty, m'Lud..............

Today I collected Ray Lamontagne's 2004 debut album 'Trouble', which contains Shelter and Hold You In My Arms (see link above).

Many thanks to Desert Ocean for opening my eyes and ears to a sublime talent that I knew little about before...........

I've posted a couple of versions of this classic recently, including the stunning jazzy version by Precious Iglesias and Pamela "The Saxtress" Williams, but there is no law against posting another one, especially when it's this good......... love the Eliott Lewis vocal................

Good to know these guys are still touring...........

Hey Dean, if you like Ray...here is a NPR link to a live recorded concert. Nice listening while you surf the net.
