Someones been in my flat
#1
Hi all,
Got home last night and noticed a few things in my apartment have been moved and the window locked ( I never lock it). I've asked the security guard who has denied any knowledge.
I know in the UK your landlord would have to give you 24 hours notice before dropping by what are your rights here. Is this worth bringing up with my letting agent?
Nothings been taken but its just the fact someones been in here without my permission doing god knows what!
Anyone else had any problems like this?

From: Doncaster, UK. But not for long!!! Where's my visa!!!

Change your locks, nobody should be allowed entry unless invited by yourself. In a normal country I would call the police but you would just be wasting your time here.

That is really creepy and I would contact the landlord or letting agent right away. I don't know about the laws in this regard, but since the home in arab countries is a very very private place, I can't imagine, they find it acceptable.

It happens -I have often been shown around apartments in Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, by landlords and it has been clearly evident that the occupier has known nothing about it.

Ew, that sucks. Doubt there's much that can be done about it though.
By the way, in the UK you absolutely don't have to let the landlord in during a usual tenancy, if you don't want to (though it's often in your own interests to do so).

The only time anyone comes into my flat are for AC servicing, window cleaning, etc (apart from my regular cleaner who has her own key anyway).
Mind you, they always inform me when they will be coming in..........

Sounds like MI6 to me...not an international terrorist are you? next time just string a grenade to the back of the door so if its not opened correctly it goes off...should deter any future trespassers...

We didn't let them in, but sure enough there's a huge box on our wall now that wasn't there yesterday. They drilled holes and left the mess on the floor. I'm pretty miffed, but due to who did it - it's unlikely much can be done?
Even worse, it doesn't work and our net is still slow.
What a waste.
I'm not sure if the lease allows, but perhaps I'll change the lock.

Etisalat entered our flat to install a fibre optic connection.

Is everybody renting? Do any of you own your own homes? I know you're all making good money...
