DXB,
No, it'll be decided by Jock McTavish sitting in a run down bar in Kirkintilloch saying "Let's get one over on the English"
Good post though

I'm looking forward to the turmoil of it all, in volatility there are opportunities and all that stuff.
Be interesting to see how an independent Scotland manages, and if that sets a precedent for NI.
The recycled arguments produced in the thread just prove one thing that neither side will change opinion whatever the outcome or verified fact in the end.

May won't let The Fish (great name DXB) have another referendum. The FM has no authority to call one either.
Just imagine what Trump and Sturgeon's love child would look like.... both are detestable individuals!

So the richt besom fish in Edinburgh has backtracked somewhat by saying she'd be seeking membership in EFTA instead of the EU should Scotland go independent.
Whatever. Sturgeon's just confirmed that the referendum has little to do with Brexit / leaving the EU. The latter is just an excuse to have a second referendum so quickly. Likes to think herself as canny, ain't she O' course we all knew this anyway.
Interesting times. Interesting times.

When we said ‘once in a lifetime’ we meant ‘a Glasgow lifetime’, clarifies SNP

HM the Queen has given the Royal Assent
Brexit: Queen gives Royal Assent to Article 50 bill - BBC News
All that is left is for TM to trigger Article 50, probably in the last week of March to avoid clashing with the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome that established what eventually became the EU. At least she has more grace than the fish in Edinburgh. Money is on 27 March.

And May has ruled out a Scottish Referendum until after we leave.
That'll get the fish chomping at the bit so to speak.

Even on Countryfile.
(Telegraph, but also in many other news-sites).
Of course he could always pay wages above the legal minimum....

A vocal section of viewers have taken to the internet to complain that a section examining what might happen to seasonal migrant farm workers and those who employ them in the wake of the Brexit vote was "leftie, pro-EU propaganda".
Presenter Tom Heap, who hosted the segment in question, was also criticised for being too pessimistic, with one viewer describing him as a "doom merchant".
At one point during the section, Heap spoke to a soft fruit grower who warned that restrictions on seasonal migrant workers could affect his business.
"This isn't anything to do with migration or immigration. This is just seasonal workers coming over here, working hard, benefiting our economy and then going home," said the Hereford farmer in question, Anthony Snell.
"There's absolutely no doubt we would be in serious trouble if we didn't have our seasonal workers coming here. We would be out of business. It would be absolutely catastrophic to our industry."
Snell also said that, while he would "love" to only employ British people, there simply aren't enough homegrown workers interested in making a career out of soft fruit picking.

Re: So we're leaving the EU including the Single Market
I remember having a debate in the thick of the referendum with an old friend from university who is Lithuanian. He was strongly pro-EU and brought up that he knew many people including his friends and family originally from the Eastern bloc that were fruit pickers in the UK. He made the case to say that they worked hard, long hours and were paid around £4ph...
My argument on that basis was that firstly, paying such a wage is illegal. Secondly, if people from outside the UK are happy to work for wages much lower than British workers, that only leads to further wage compression and continues this cycle of bad practice amongst farmers.
To put it simply, if there is a lack of unskilled labour such as that used in agriculture, farmers will be forced to pay higher salaries to plug the gap...

I'm not moaning or whinging, rather stating how the news is reported post-Brexit!

And then he'd be out of business because he wouldn't be able to sell his fruit at a price that would allow him to run a viable business, thanks to supermarkets squeezing suppliers for the last penny and, by extension, consumers who don't realise that cheap food has a price.
