Take pens for example, they import cheap ballpoints because they can't work out how to make them as well as they already made (can't remember source, recent news article though).

Not easy to deal with the Chinese though. A contract with them isn't really worth the paper its written on.

By weakening the TPP, China has been strengthened a lot. |

Re: And so it begins...
Some of the best transactions done with Chinese in the UAE do not require paperwork. Well, not till afterwards, anyway ...

Are you referring to the TPP? TPP never included China.

no. Contracts to purchase steel. approx 50pct of our contracts with Chinese steel mills were cancelled by the mills recently when the market price went up. They could sell better on the spot market so contracts were just ignored. Arbitration in China so no chance of wining.
As for the contracting here...... run for the hills. They're awful! |

Re: And so it begins...
Speaking of the Chinese I do like their grub (mostly, well, mainly, ok, some of it).
A few weeks ago I was in a taxi through Deira and saw a number of Chinese chophouses near Al Ghurair Centre and one or two looked new. One advertised itself as Hong Kong / Cantonese. Anyone have any experience with these places? From a culinary perspective it's good to see more properly Chinese places open compared to all the Chinglish or Indo-Chinese crap. And I suppose it reflects the growing Chinese presence in Dubai  |

I never 'really' found a decent chinglish place here..... they play at it but they can't resist playing with it.
China Sea near Clock House Roundabout, they have sea anemones and all sorts. Takes a brave soul to try out some of the stuff - but if you want authentic... |

You want "proper" Chinese, not westernised?
As for trying 'authentic' Chinese..... I'd rather not eat 90% of the crazy stuff they do.... |
