Re: Sexual Harassment
In all seriousness, mate, if you're feeling that this is a real problem for her here, then she may well be better off growing up in the UK. The UAE is a poly-cultural society, not a multi-cultural one - there is a tendency for people to ghetto-ise themeselves here. In the UK, especially in the big towns and cities, it's no biggie to be mixed race. Actually, it's pretty cool.

Re: Sexual Harassment
As we don't expect to be here very much longer, the Dubai issue isn't our top priority...however, we have spent time in the UK and racial discrimination is not dead and buried there either, especially in rural areas so we found from bitter experience. Jasmine will simply have to adapt wherever she finds herself.

and I prefer foreigners and people with interestin backgrounds to the chavs and chavettes that proliferate in the UK!
But its not just a white yokel thing! go into any of the ghetto like areas of any major uk city and the ethnic minority that is the majority on that area will be just as racist as any yokel.

islington as much as i love that place... is one of the highest areas for crime in london... it was voted 4th in the top ten list of worst places to live in the UK... I still like it though...

Not for the first time, on her way back home from taking our daughter to kindergarten, my wife was stopped in the street by a complete stranger who offered her Dhs.500 to follow him back to his house...presumably for tea and cucumber sandwiches...has anyone else had a similar experience? I told her not to accept anything less than four camels and a goat.
