Not only unhygienic, but unhealthy too. Apart from the risk of bruised knees, my doctor assures me that knackers need restraining, cos either by design or evolution they aren't meant to hang free (man), otherwise they're susceptible to all sorts of strains, twists and dislocations. Not nice.
I can't stand even tight underwear except for exercise (when I have to strap them in or I will bruise my ankles and knock over passers by ) ...perhaps it's a question of personal choice and comfort but unless I'm engaged in serious physical activity (which if I am careful I never am) things should be loose and free.

I wore mine on Friday at a ball in the Emirates Palace. They were dangling loose.

Exposing them to a bit of fresh air would be far more hygienic than wrapping them up and letting them sweat for heavens sake.
