scots to cover up...official...
...according to the scottish tartans authority, who should know, not wearing underwear under a kilt is "childish and unhygienic, and it "flies in the face of decency" (lmao)...

I have honestly never ever worn anything under my kilt.
Let them hang loose i say
But the comments at the bottom of the article re the state of some kilts is rather alarming..

Not only unhygienic, but unhealthy too. Apart from the risk of bruised knees, my doctor assures me that knackers need restraining, cos either by design or evolution they aren't meant to hang free (man), otherwise they're susceptible to all sorts of strains, twists and dislocations. Not nice.

My son (16) prefers boxers but I've warned him that I want grandchildren.

Never worn anything under mine, either - and very much a boxer man. More chance of the chappies getting damaged, but they stay cooler

With a kilt, obviously nothing. However, if I were hiring a kilt, as opposed to owning my own, I may be tempted. God only knows where its been before you..

have to confess i do cover up whilst wearing a kilt here but only to avoid the inevitable arrest when i plonk myself down on a pavement pissed waiting for a taxi/eating a shwarma and flash a load of local lasses.
my understanding is that the correct etiquette is no underwear unless your at a party for a young woman where flashing may cause offense other than that its let em hang as god intended. i suspect the press release is more a case of pc madness than any correct etiquette advice.
