No, here we don't go.

Just saying...there is more than England involved and celebrating the royal wedding...

Its like that poofy twat Elton when dodi di died, 'goodbye Englands rose'..

Very fitting for a BRITISH icon and the princess of WALES.

If your English you don't see it, if your not, it stands out a mile.

I don't think the song would have sounded quite the same if had tried to incorporate Britain and Wales but I know where you are coming from :)

Yea, Goodbye Britain's Rose would have sounded awful. After all you don't get roses outside of England ;-)

This is really going to sound terrible and many of you will think me wrong but I get a real feeling amongst the young and educated today that things are changing towards a post-materialist world. That is not to say that they won't be great consumers but that the type of consuming educated people are doing is changing towards having less items with a higher value (both in terms of money and function).

How could we be modest patriots when talking about England?*

*A country, I'm loathed to point out, most of us don't live in . But isn't England even more splendid from afar?

More than likely you are wrong.I don't even have a small chip about it.

It kind of passively annoys me.

ah, ok. fair enough - maybe you are one of the exceptions then :) I can sort of see your point too.

However, I also find it interesting to see non English-Brits whinge on about not being fully included then, at the same time, want to be devolved. I'm also amused that you never see a george's cross painted on someone's face yet given any opportunity a face will be painted blue...

Likewise, I don't care... just find it amusing.

Don't be a plonker. Next you will be saying that the Duke of Edinburgh is Scottish. Lady Diana was as English as the Mendip Hills.

You are missing my point totally.

Oh please, not all this, yet again. (Besides Phil is more German/Danish than anything else.)

As far as I am concerned the event was about Britishness more than royalty. I am no monarchist and think a hereditary monarchy is an anachronism in this day and age, but it is is about our shared history and traditions. No other nation does pomp and ceremony like we do and the whole event looked fabulous.

As for the naysayers: no one was forced to watch it, the event showed Britain in a good light (for once), has probably increased tourism and gave us back a little pride, at least for a while. As with any young couple getting married I wish them well.

Your initial comment proves you are more than 'passively' annoyed by it.

Anyway, as Meow says, let's not go down this never-ending road again.

no my initial comment was a display of passive annoyance.

Pease remember that i have lived in England for years have served in HM forces for a lot of years am a royalist to the core and dont wear a 'see you jimmy' bunnet and paint my face.

so my comment actually proves nothing, apart from highlighting your incorrect assumptions of a stranger.

lets move along..
