Default Red Dwarf: The Return!

The crew of Red Dwarf will come back down to Earth when the cult comedy show returns to our screens this Easter.

Kryten, Cat, Lister and Rimmer will return in a two-part special

More than two decades after the first series blasted off, celebrated characters Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten will all appear in the two part special.

Written and directed by co-creator Doug Naylor, the new show reunites actors Chris Barrie, Craig Charles, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn.

The two-part series Red Dwarf: Back to Earth, will kick start a Red Dwarf Easter weekend from Good Friday on TV channel Dave.

This will be followed by Red Dwarf: Unplugged, a "no holds barred" episode with no sets, no effects and no autocue.

The weekend will climax with a behind-the-scenes special from the new production, Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth.

Charles has since become a Corrie star

The project is Dave's biggest commission yet and its first foray into scripted comedy.

The Emmy award-winning offbeat series, set in space, has enjoyed phenomenal success since it first aired in 1988 on BBC2.

It brought in more than eight million viewers for its final eighth series, sold 7.25m DVD and videos worldwide, and was broadcast in some 25 territories worldwide.

The actors have hit the headlines for various reasons since the show ended.

Charles now plays toyboy cabbie Lloyd in Coronation Street.

In November last year, John-Jules was ordered to carry out 120 hours community service for assaulting two refuse collectors.
