That's great, but I was hoping that more newbee's would let us know what their experiences are as there seem quite a lot of pending newbee's coming soon.

I remember arriving here and in the first couple of days here the thing that stuck me as strange was how comfortable I felt, especially as a woman in a new country alone, it didn't seem to frieghten me at all, especially after coming from London area.

Personally, I am not sure if a newbie would want to disclose to a complete stranger all of his/her experiences so soon after arriving...better for them to ask for help if the need arises...you may be coming across as a little too inquisitive for some, my dear, even though your intentions may be honorable.

she is just asking what the first impressions were after coming over here for the first time...I mean people are more than willing to post their income on here, very detailed even...and they would not want to tell what they think of the UAE and if it is like we have tried to tell them on BE....I don't get it...

I find that we often here from people months before they arrive and then it all goes quiet, yes most is due to settling in and setting up, but things change so fast in the UAE and my experience when I arrived over a year ago may be totally different from those that arrived the year before me and those that arrived a year after me... all experiences add to the information that people look for on this board...again it come to freedom of choice...post or not post, and in my view the more the better

I agree PTP, it is so annoying when you get to 'know' someone and help them with advice re work and accomodation. They arrive and you never hear from them again! would be nice to get the odd update every so often
