Projects that never were
or more correctly the fantasy land projects that were good for a giggle, bankrupted the foolish and never were or could have been in the land of sand during the height of its own insanity.

Jumeirah Gardens. The video was awesome.
A bunch of villas were torn down in Jumeira 1 for the new Gardens development, then the economy crashed and now we still have large plots of empty lands just off Al Wasl down in that part of town. |

Same story really with the road beside JBR that's been massacred to make way for the tram. There used to be trees in the central reservation and then slip roads with guest parking to access JBR car parks - and it worked! But no, they ripped it all up and we've had 2 years of road works with no work being done. Saying that, they do appear to be doing something very slowly on the SZR side. I think we'll be long gone before they start figuring out how to get it over the bridge! |

We were really considering buying in The Lagoons when it was announced...

I always enjoyed look at the plans of anything SAMA Dubai had to do with.
Even more, I enjoyed looking at the profiles of the people that fell out of that shambles. |

I was working for Sama (via my consultancy) back in 06/07 on a project in Doha, and remember seeing the designs for the flame-like buildings in their offices. The scale of everything was astonishing. I remember driving along the Emirates road past hoardings covered in pictures of things like Barwa and Falcon City of Wonders. Crazy days!
