Re: Polygamy
How about if I throw into the mix a society where the number of men is severely depleted (through war, for example), such that there is a high number of women who could not marry, and the societal situation means that it is difficult for them to work and thereby support themselves?
If men are allowed multiple wives, then women should be allowed multiple husbands, although I don't think most of us are daft/egotistical enough to want such a thing.

I voted yes, if you can have multiple girlfriends its essentially the same thing just more "respectable" in some peoples eyes

Ok, there are loads of unwritten caveats, but assuming that we're talking about one man taking up to four wives, he's got enough money and love to share around, and it were to happen in a society that accepts it, would you or wouldn't you enter into a polygamous marriage?
I think I can predict the outcome for the fairer sex, but not sure about us blokes.

Well, in the context of their whole lives, then almost certainly "yes", but rarely concurrently... or rarely concurrently for long!
Ach, just running away with the idea of multiple husbands... it so wouldn't work. Imagine hubby #1 having done his duty, wifey wanting a bit more action and bed-hopping to hubby #2. rofl. Something to be said for matriarchal linage hey? You pretty much always know who your mum is. Ooohhhh, poor bruised male egos. They'd be fighting like a pack of wolves.

Reminds me of the time when a boyfriend asked for a threesome. I said yes as long as I could pick number three.
He was like a pig in shit for several days until I picked... His best friend.
Suddenly he didn't like the idea. Strange.
I couldn't handle more than one husband. Can't see the point. Actually it would be dreadful. The mess! Like having extra children. No. No. Just no.

Nope. He really, truly thought I was up for some girl on girl action. He wasn't clever enough to specify the sex - he was all wrapped up in his own special fantasy. Blinkered by his cock.
Looking back, he was an arse. We've all dated them at some point.

Ten years?
Huh?
I dated him for four months. Late summer 1996.
Maybe you were blinkered by the word "cock?"
