of course nothing will happen.
They own the companies that employ them and own the camps. They don't give a shite about the conditions labourers live in.

of course they don't.

Know any hotel employees? Ask them what their living conditions are like, 14 to 15 to a room, a small room. One bathroom between 30.

Now i know you cant compare this to labourers conditions but still, this is what all low paid workers have to put up with. And to some extent we feed off of it.

I'm married to a former Dubai hotel employee. she was in room sales though so slightly better conditions. 5 of them sharing a 1 bed apartment near Lamcy. Hotel employed security for the building. no guests allowed after 10pm.

minimum 60 hour working week for abt 2-2500 dhs per month.
made to work public holidays and never given the day in lieu. Forced to travel 45minutes to see the company doctor if ill and then frequently refused time off even if running a fever.

and that was not some dodgy little hotel that was at the Madinat.

Occupancy rates are high...revenues have crashed through the the floor. Heavily discounting room rates to attract the tourists in the hope they will spend some cash in the food outlets and bars.

eh no way. Inse, you seen the price of a club sanni or a beer in a european hotel. Just got back from europe and a vodka is 8 quids and a sanni anything from 10 upwards, you can get a vodka for 30 dibs here and a club for 35 at the Hilton Abu Dhabs

well they treat their employers like crap anyway. and if they complain the they just send them home to wherever thy came from.

I'm happy Mrs Insey is out of that. In fact when she gets back from her trip she's going to be a lady of leisure for a bit taking her time to find a job that is really right for her.

I reckon being a professional lady-who-lunches might turn out to be her dream career, my encumbered muchacho....
