What an amazing day at the games. Great day for team GB. So many brilliant performances.
Chris Hoy getting another gold and a world record (twice) with the sprint team. Shame for Pendelton and Varnish... and the pursuit looked incredible.
Canoe gold and silver.
Trap shooting - a machine! (love that when his funding was cut years ago one of the Maktoum's stepped in and funded him)
Judo - top result
and more....
Phelps - sorry The Dean - has performed again and that medley was such a great defence and the first man to retain the gold not once, but twice over 3 games....
Oh and Andy Murray won twice today too
Loving this already - can't believe the athletics has yet to start tomorrow...

I just so happened to be passing through London this week, my train came in at Stratford. Can't say I was overtly shocked by the amount of people in the station or on the tube. It was rush hour'ish time. Saw some pink phoneboxes.
My friends in London all seem to be working from home, the tube was almost empty in other parts of town.

It's a shame that the Olympics seems to be having a negative effect on the London economy but with hindsight I guess that was predictable. Still a great thing for London and putting the country on the world stage though.
Dean - what's your prediction for the day? Think we can move to 4th place? When you think about it that would be a remarkable achievement - the countries that hold places 1 & 2 have a combined population of 1.4bn people and are the world's two largest economies. If you take all that into consideration TGB aren't so bad after all.

So should the gold medal winning British cycling 3 man team be disqualified cause they 'did not conduct themselves in the spirit of the Olympics'

We were saying if we have a bad start we need to crash to get a restart. I just crashed, I did it on purpose to get a restart, just to have the fastest ride. I did it. So it was all planned

Busiest day apparently and the drain is down the drain. You couldn't predict it. Oh, you could.

Unbelievable crowd - I have never seen a stadium so full for the first morning session of an Olympics. "Central Line delays won't stop us....."
Millhouse - I think we can finish ahead of the Koreans who have already had some of their best events but not sure that it will be today........

Millhouse- basically yes
and I should add I have the utmost respect for the dedication these athletes have to their sport and a large appreciation for the side effect that is super toned muscly hot bodies - I applaud them all- in particular the person who designs their teeny tiny performance outfits :-)

Ennis below her PB in the HJ but leads after two events - and see Katarina Johnson-Thompson in third overall (HJ PB of 1.89m).
And Grainger-Watkins win gold in the rowing (can everyone stop banging on about Grainger now please?)..............
