Re: NZ
Just seen your thread, obvs their summer is opposite to ours, so the nicer months are Jan and Feb, temp around 30ish in the North Island, but feels much hotter because of the thin ozone layer. Take plenty of sun cream.
Just bear in mind that kiwis tend not to travel abroad much and January is when everyone takes their Summer holidays so could be busy in the popular getaway spots.
Feel free to message if you want any other info.

Re: NZ
thanks guys, much appreciated.
and yep DXB am planning my next holiday to NZ, Inshallaah!
I want to do a fun packed activity/adrenaline holiday and so was wondering which Island would be better suited for that and during which time of the year.
Been doing some research online and it appears South Island is the place to go, but I am still unsure during what time of the year? I am not fussed if the weather is 'cooler' than here, but I don't want to go when it's likely to rain.

Re: NZ
South Island is it. Queenstown/Wanaka is the heart of all the adraneline stuff to do. You would do two weeks entirely on the South Island, or ten days followed with four days around Auckland.
Weatherwise I'd say December through March is your best bet. I was in the South Island for two weeks that spanned the end of February and the beginning of March last year, and the weather was brilliant with the only real rain near Mount Cook. New Zealand is infamous for microclimates so the weather can vary greatly in short distances. February may be the best month altogether because the summer holidays are over but the weather is still great.
Will you be going on your own or with others?

thanks guys, much appreciated.
and yep DXB am planning my next holiday to NZ, Inshallaah!

Re: NZ
South Island west coast is magnificent but it rains a lot all year round see Hokitika (a lovely place) from Scamp's data dump above. But where else in the world can you stand metres from a glacier in a rainforest (while it's raining) within 15 minutes drive of a beach?

I was looking to go around May/Jun but it seems the weather is completely pants - will that be case?
I'm actually planning on going on my own since I can't get anyone to join me - I have only ever done a holiday on my mine the once and hated it....but figured I have no option and must try it alone again lol

Re: NZ
South Island west coast is magnificent but it rains a lot all year round see Hokitika (a lovely place) from Scamp's data dump above. But where else in the world can you stand metres from a glacier in a rainforest (while it's raining) within 15 minutes drive of a beach?

Re: NZ
All of it by the sounds of it, but **** it, might get lucky. We did Cape Town in August last year and was glorious - cool, warm, blue skies, rained once.....but most of all, a totally refreshing change from Dubai summer...

Re: NZ
been doing some more googling and it appears May-Jun is when their winter kicks in and temperatures in the south island rang from 1C to 12C - that's frigging cold lol
