I think that's a bit naive. Journalism today is incredibly important. Hearing something quickly via live-leak or twitter is one thing, but that's not overly helpful in establishing details etc.

Half of articles in the papers are little more than click bait. Half of the other half are written by journalists whose biases are so bleedin' obvious that it's laughable. And they withhold many essential information in fear of being labelled as racist or sexist.

I find live updates on reddit to be much more reliable. 90% of what they reveal are ultimately admitted by the papers, hours or even days later.
