Default New speed limits

In order to reduce accidents on the roads, the speed limits have been increased.

Good for them. Just imagine if the UK government had the sense to do similar.

Reminds me of this article about the new road to the Western Region earlier this year:

https://www.thenational.ae/uae/trans...60kph-1.700188

"Jamal Al Ameri, head of the Saaed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents, said: “The length of the road is more than 250 kilometres. The change in the speed limit is fitting to the size of the road."

Work that one out!

I dont know why they dont get rid of speed limits on "motorways" here especially if a road is 250KM long. I cant remember ever seeing a speed camera on a motor way in the UK or EU (maybe in the land of the frogettes!)

Statisticially more deaths on rural/inner city roads than motorways !

Long live the autobahns !!

Not all autobhans are speed limit free. When i was last in Germany there were 3 and only on certain stretches. Their driving is terrible but not as bad as here Instead of tailgating they flash and use their indicators to get you to move
I saw so many horrific crashes and the roads were littered with crosses and flowers to mark the scenes of accidents

There are now stretches of the M1 and various others that have speed cameras on 24/7. 'Smart motorways' apparently.

Maybe that is the cause of the crashes (urban and motorway) rather than the speed. The 2 second rule is non-existant amongst other things. All starts with the getting a license and the driving tests as a learner.

More women drive in cities and urban areas, that's probably why there are more accidents there.
