anyway, point is, if too much time is being wasted on it and no outcome, then just take it to a spark mate

I presume your on the phone with the same wireless network so its not a router thing
hence :
the quickest fix I can think of is just run to any IT hardware shop and get yourself a USB wireless lan card
the TP-Link type shouldnt be more than 40 aed (dont pay more than that)
install the software BEFORE inserting the USB, restart the laptop, then insert the USB
it should detect the wireless network, put in the wireless key (of which I hope there is one) and you should be up and running
the MS office fix is a bit more complicated I am afraid if you dont have the installation in hand
once after you are online, you can use google docs to do all your office work...I guess

Using IE right now; either 8 or 9, forgot where to check the version.

Of all the browsers, which one is fastest and has the least clutter ?
Just want a bare bones browser.

I like firefox because of the add-ons but probably the most bare bones one and quickest is the basic google chrome browser

Firefox is getting increasingly bloated I find. Been using chrome for a while and it's pretty damn nice. Only issue was importing bookmarks went badly wrong and will be a faff to sort out

How does one get the Bookmarks bar to show up ? I don't mean where a website that is bookmarked is show in a bar but the bar where you can click on Bookmarks to save a website to Bookmarks? Similar to the Favorites bar in IE.

The three horizontal black lines at the top right - click on it and you should see an sub-menu "Bookmarks", within that tick "Show Bookmarks bar"

You click on the star next to the three horizontal lines to bookmark the page you're on

I tried the 3 horiz. lines but all that does is show specific websites for quick clicking. What I am looking for is like below in FireFox, a Bar with Bookmarks along with Edit & File and other options.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps9e664cfc.png
on the right top of the screen you will see a finger icon and next to it a star icon
next to that star icon there is a dropdown menu arrow button
click on that and a small menu will appear, the first item on it is 'view bookmarks toolbar'

click on that and viola, its a pretty hand toolbar for quick launching websites
but that why i like opera better, you just open a new tab and a 'quick dial' screen appears in which you can set upto 8 of your favorites
anyway, hope that helped
