Need anti v irus help. My laptop seems to be in a grip of some malware

Haven't been able to kick back on the internet for weeks, it seems. I've put laptop to default settings but has started all over again. Keeps cutting off the internet. The times between get quicker each time till it refuses to get on full stop. I remember some of you being a whizz in this dept, so what can I (attempt) to download to nuke the bastard?

Thanks guys. Got piriform already, it was the first thing I reloaded but need something else. Which one out of the above as I have a limited time period! I tried googling antiv stuff last time and it fully crashed about 30 secs later.

I HATE the wankers who write the malware. Aresholes

Try boot in safe mode before running the antivirus stuff like malwarebytes, it will be much more effective

malwarebytes is excellent, and they are very helpful if you still have a problem, I had a crash, and had to reload in 'safe mode', contacted them, and they sent me programmes to clean it up, no cost, and I only use the free version.

You lot are great! How do I open it in safe mode? Take it that I must open it normally, download malwarebytes, shut down first?

Download the program and updates, restart and press f8 as it's booting then pick safe mode. it will boot with no connections etc and you can run the program

System restore can be handy, if you set it to create a restore point once a week then in safe mode you can reboot your system to a previous point in time (pre-virus)

They call them the apple genius in UK shops. Probably why apple are so expensive, plus you need a ponytail if you buy one.
