it take a special person to stick microscopes up next to an insects arse to see whats there. presumably there hasn't been anyone so inclined before

They say that cogs have an evolutionary precedent, but maybe it is nature mimicking science? Maybe the plant-hopping insect has recently evolved to have these cog things? Just a thought...
