Now you're being deliberately obtuse I suspect. When did I say "No means Yes"? If there is no consent I fully agree that the law should be applied. However the law does not dictate whether a person has that fetish; for example, the law can ban homosexuality, or oral sex (eg Singapore) but that doesnt stop people from wanting to do it.

Off topic, but is oral sex really illegal in Singapore?

When will governments realise that what consenting adults do in private is none of their business?

Neither homosexuality or oral sex is a fetish. A fetish is deriving sexual arousal from a physical object or specific situation not usually considered as erotic.

I am with you mostly on this BB.

Fetish is often fantasy which in my humble opinion, can sometimes be erotic.
Rape is a crime of violence & power-never erotic.
One is fantasy; one is very real & I have to say I find the correalation a bit bizarre.

KittyC,

I am sorry that you have been let down by this 'friend'.
You seem a very helpful, kind person of generous spirit & no doubt you have been all these things to this person in the past who probably used you or lied to you during your friendship.Do as Spugsy says, cut him loose.
If you ever feel bad about doing that then re-read _jon_'s post. Many sex offenders are recidivists.Forget him Kitty, change his status in your life to persona non grata.

Regarding the post about rape (N.Lad?)- I think there was reference to two charges of rape being dropped. Remember the burden of proof in criminal cases is 'beyond all reasonable doubt' so in a one- to- one situation, that high standard can often be difficult to establish. Of course it is right that such proof is required however where this is lacking doesn’t mean the crime didn’t happen.Given this person’s profile it is not improbable imho.
The fact that this person was ‘remanded since May’ speaks volumes to me in regard to the seriousness of the crimes. Special conditions require a person to be remanded i.e ... a danger to the public, likely to reoffend, previous convictions of similar nature(after being found guilty of course)....

Dean,
Surely you know life is cheap and sentences for crimes against the person are more lenient it seems than crimes involving money i.e embezzlement, fraud, high value art thefts etc.
